Senior Accountant

POSITION TITLE:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

JOB CLASSIFICATION: SALARY-EXEMPT

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports; assist with variance analysis and forecasting.

* Compliance & Audits:
Assist with accounting and grant audits; prepare documentation for external auditors; ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant laws.

* General Accounting Operations:
Manage general ledger and provide support for accounts receivable, accounts payable and tax filings.

* Grant Accounting and Reporting:
Prepare and submit timely, accurate financial reports, invoices, and reimbursement requests to funders as required by grant terms

* Budgeting & Planning:
Participate in budget development, monitor cash flow, and assist with financial planning.

* Internal Controls:
Assist with implementation and maintenance of financial controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.

* Team Leadership:
Provide support to accounting staff as needed, including guidance on entries and procedures.

* Process Improvement:
Perform and further develop reconciliations. Identify and implement continuous process improvement initiatives.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial regulations

* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage) and Excel

* Analytical and problem-solving skills

* Strong communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; FQHC or grant experience and CPA certification preferred.

* Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of advanced accounting experience, preferably in a supervisory role.

* Soft Skills:

Detail-oriented, organized, able to work independently and collaboratively, with integrity and ethical conduct
