Description

The Minnesota State Fair, one of the largest and most celebrated events in the country, relies on a dedicated team to support its financial operations year-round and during peak fair-time activity. We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support accounts payable, corporate credit card processing, and payroll functions. This role is responsible for processing invoices and reimbursements, reconciling vendor statements, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with tax tracking and 1099 preparation, and supporting payroll operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and willing to work extended hours during peak periods while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Essential Functions
  • Process accounts payable invoices, travel reimbursements and fair-time batches.
  • Assist Senior Accounting Specialist with Use & Variable tax tracking for monthly reporting.
  • Maintain organized and accurate files and documents in accordance with retention policies.
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Process corporate credit card transactions within the finance management software.
  • Assist Senior Accounting Specialist with year-end 1099 preparation.
  • Assist with all payroll functions, as needed, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to deadlines.
  • During peak activity times, work extended daily hours and periods with no days off.
  • Assist with tasks as assigned by either the immediate supervisor or CEO.
Required Qualifications
  • Two years post high school education in business, accounting, or related area of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Excellent attention to detail required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with ERP and Payroll systems. Acumatica and UKG Ready preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license.
