What We Need:
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of seasonal (unclassified) Lifeguard within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, assigned to Auglaize County. • Rescue swimmers in distress (e.g., enter water to aid potential drowning victims; use rescue equipment such as rescue tube, rescue board, or canoe) to tow/pull swimmer to safety; perform emergency first aid (e.g., administer CPR; control bleeding; cover the victim).
• Guard designated swimming areas against drownings and related accidents; advise the public of provisions of Ohio Revised Code & Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Parks & Watercraft Division rules; request public compliance; attend training sessions.
• Complete incident report forms; inspect safety equipment for repairs; maintain swimming areas (e.g., pick up litter, empty trash containers, check restrooms, vending machines, mow grass, paint surfaces); keep supervisor informed of maintenance needs (cleaning, chemical adjustments, repairs).
• Hourly pay of $20.58/hr.

  These positions are utilized during the division's anticipated busiest season and may include weekends, evenings & rotating shifts.
• Unusual working conditions:
  Exposure to weather; exposure to potentially hostile general public; exposure to danger in performing water rescue.

• Seasonal positions will remain at step 1 of the pay range and are not eligible for benefits (e.g., vision, dental, life, health insurance, holiday pay, leave accruals, paid leave, shift differentials, etc.).
• Required certifications (or nationally recognized equivalents):
  American Red Cross Lifeguard training certificate or Lifeguard certificate from alternative providers; CPR certification. If required to work longer than four months, you may need to submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
• If a positive drug test result occurs, employment will not be offered (per Ohio revised code sections 3719.01 & 3719.41).
