This opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in telemetry nursing, working primarily with cardiac and medical patients. The role focuses on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care in a step-down unit that specializes in cardiac care and medical telemetry.
Location:
The position is based in Saint Marys, Ohio, a community known for its welcoming atmosphere and access to outdoor recreational activities. This location offers a balance of small-town charm with convenient access to larger city amenities.
Position Type:
Contract (local candidates will not be considered; relocation or travel flexibility required).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to develop and implement effective care plans.
- Provide specialized care to cardiac patients, including those undergoing cardiac rule-out procedures and pre/post cardiac catheterization.
- Administer and titrate drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin; no use of pressors.
- Monitor patients with chronic respiratory support devices and manage stable chest tubes and standard post-operative drains.
- Coordinate care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and serve as a key contact for care coordination.
- Apply ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certification skills to manage emergencies and complex patient conditions.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional documentation and participate in unit-specific protocols and standards of care.
- Current RN license in the appropriate state or under compact licensure.
- Minimum one year of RN experience, preferably with six months in an acute care hospital telemetry or step-down unit.
- Dysrhythmia exam required; study guide provided.
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required; CCRN or PCCN certifications preferred.
- Experience in cardiac care, including drips management and post-catheterization care.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems is a plus.
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and patient advocacy skills.
- 36-bed step-down unit staffed with unit secretary (days) and patient care technicians.
- Use of Alaris pumps and Hercules beds.
- Navy blue scrubs required.
- Night-shift schedules with every other week and every other holiday rotations.
