Telemetry RN in Saint Marys, OH

Deliver specialized nursing care as a Stepdown Registered Nurse on a medical/telemetry unit with a focus on cardiac patient populations. This role involves coordinating comprehensive care for adult and geriatric patients requiring intermediate monitoring, including those undergoing cardiac rule out, CHF exacerbations, and management of pre/post cardiac catheterization. A dysrhythmia exam is required prior to starting, and candidates must be willing to work as contract staff outside the local area.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop evidence-based care plans.
• Administer and titrate cardiac-related drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin.
• Manage patients with chest pain, multi-system conditions, alcohol detox, and post-operative needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and serve as a patient and family advocate.
• Maintain safety and quality improvement initiatives in patient care.
• Utilize clinical judgment to adapt rapidly to changing patient conditions.
• Document care accurately using electronic health records.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current RN license with compact state coverage.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience; acute care hospital setting experience preferred.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification preferred.
• Dysrhythmia exam completion required (study guide provided).
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization patients and managing drips.
• EPIC EHR training and critical care course preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and prioritization skills.

Schedule/Hours:

• 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and holiday.
• Options for 36 or 48-hour weekly guarantees.

Unit Details:

• 36-bed stepdown unit with appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 1:4-5).
• Standard medical devices including Alaris pumps and Hercules beds.
• No high-complexity lines or ventilated patients; oxygen delivery up to nasal cannula.
• Unit-specific navy blue scrubs attire.
