Location: St. Louis

The Meter Collector position involves collecting coins from City Parking Meters, as well as sorting, bagging, computing, and recording all cash received. The role requires making daily deposits and maintaining parking meters in good condition through cleaning and preventive maintenance.

Job Purpose: We seek a Meter Collector with integrity and knowledge of the city. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily parking meter collections within a designated area, ensuring all currency is accounted for, and maintaining the condition of meters and equipment. This role contributes to customer service and revenue goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect coins from parking meters on an assigned route
  • Report work hazards, meter theft, vandalism, and faulty meters
  • Perform simple repairs on parking meters
  • Respond professionally to public questions and complaints
  • Manage check-in/out of tools, uniforms, and vehicles
  • Complete paperwork and reports accurately and timely
  • Present daily service performance reports
  • Record the condition of parking meters during routes
  • Remove meters when instructed
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of city streets
  • Good public relations skills
  • Ability to lift 15+ pounds and walk for extended periods
  • Good judgment and tact in sensitive situations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Adherence to safe work practices

Technical Skills:

  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High accuracy and speed in data entry
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • Ability to work under pressure
