Scale AI is seeking highly skilled and motivated Software Engineers to join our dynamic Federal Engineering team. As part of this team, you will deliver high‑impact AI‑powered mission solutions for government customers on our scalable, high‑performance platform. Your expertise will help design and build systems capable of handling billions of data points with exceptional performance.

• Design and implement scalable backend systems for federal customers, leveraging Scale’s modern, cloud‑native AI infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and execute the vision for backend solutions, ensuring they meet the unique needs of government agencies operating in secure environments.
• Develop distributed systems, data‑intensive applications, and machine‑learning infrastructure to enable real impact for mission owners.
• Build robust and reliable backend systems that can serve as standalone products, empowering customers to accelerate their own AI ambitions.
• Participate actively in customer engagements, working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap and product strategy for Scale AI’s federal business, playing a key role in shaping the future direction of our offerings.

This role will require an active TS/SCI security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.

• Full‑stack development proficiency in both front‑end and back‑end, with experience in modern web frameworks, languages, and databases.
• Cloud‑native expertise: familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP; experience deploying applications in containerised environments; knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Data‑engineering skills: ETL processes, data pipeline construction, data modelling, warehousing, and governance principles.
• Machine‑learning infrastructure: knowledge of Tensor Flow, PyTorch, model serving, monitoring, and deployment strategies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a critical mindset, root‑cause identification, and innovative solution design.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate across teams and articulate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Adaptability and learning agility: quick to adopt new technologies and stay up‑to‑date with emerging trends.

Base salary range for full‑time positions in San Francisco, New York, and Seattle: $184,000—$292,560 USD

Base salary range for full‑time positions in Washington DC, Texas, and Colorado: $165,600—$263,304 USD

Base salary range for full‑time position in Hawaii/St. Louis: $138,000—$219,420 USD
