Senior Software Developer – API & Web Applications | Hybrid in St. Louis, MO | W2 Contract

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer with a strong API and backend focus to support a customer-facing, enterprise-scale web application. This developer will join a hybrid onshore/offshore delivery team and act as the third API developer, providing critical onshore technical leadership while building secure, scalable APIs and modern CI/CD pipelines.

• Working on a high-visibility, customer-facing enterprise application.
• Ownership of API development and CI/CD processes.
• Collaboration with architects, product owners, and global delivery teams.

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with deep experience using FastAPI (or Flask).
• Experience building and deploying secure, high-performance RESTful APIs.
• Backend development experience with Node.js.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions and/or Azure Dev Ops).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
• Working knowledge of Docker and multi‑environment deployments.
• Strong understanding of API and application security best practices.

• Experience with frontend and backend integration workflows.
• Exposure to Kubernetes and microservices architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
• Experience with enterprise API management platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Collaborate closely with frontend teams to ensure seamless API integration.
• Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments.
• Implement enterprise‑grade security practices (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSL/TLS).
• Write clean, modular, and well‑tested code with strong documentation.
• Participate in peer code reviews and promote coding best practices.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders.
• Continuously evaluate and improve development and deployment processes.

• Strong understanding of secure, scalable backend architecture.
• Comfort working in hybrid onshore/offshore team models.
