Akima Intra-Data (AID) is looking for Maintenance Plumber to work in Saint Louis, Missouri. The Plumber is a full-time, on-site position responsible for general plumbing and duties to maintain, repair, or upgrade facilities and structures.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of plumbing trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to plumbing code.
- Cut openings in walls, floors, or ceilings to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals and nonmetals using power and hand tools.
- Install and/or repair sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, faucets and burst pipes. Open clogged drains.
- Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. Inspect structures to identify obstructions to avoid weakening the structure.
- Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and threading machines. Bend pipe to required angle.
- Join pipe by threaded joints, flanges, fittings, solder, pro press, or plastic solvent welds.
- Fill pipe systems with water/air and read pressure gauges to detect leaks.
- Maintain and repair plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets.
- Use pipe locators to locate and mark sewer and natural gas systems to prevent damage.
- Report accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations promptly.
- Assist other trades personnel as needed. Read and follow blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
- Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment.
- Inspect and maintain fire suppression systems and backflow prev enters. Ensure proper housekeeping practices.
- Operate company motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must possess a HS Diploma or GED.
- Must successfully complete a background check (criminal and credit) and obtain government clearance.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Possess or be able to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance with eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information.
- Must possess 5+ years' experience at Journeyman plumber level.
- Possess a Top-Secret security clearance with eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information.
- Trade or tech school highly preferred.
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester training certified.
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Repair and Maintenance Training certified.
- Normal shift is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Hours may vary; overtime may be required.
- On call for emergency and after-hours events.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors; outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather.
- Subject to hazards including bodily harm, diseases, cuts, burns, dust, and elevated noise.
- Tasks may be performed on uneven or inclined surfaces.
- Must wear and work in PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, etc.) for full shifts.
- Physical requirements:
stand, walk, sit, lift up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, carry, stoop, kneel, and manipulate objects; read and interpret safety regulations and environmental controls.
