Diesel Technician/Mechanic III – Entry Level

Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and most well‑maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

Shift: Tuesday – Saturday, 3 pm – 11:30 pm.

• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Performing preventative maintenance repairs—such as replacing or rotating tires, lubricating and replacing components, performing electrical system repairs, and maintaining cooling systems on gas and diesel‑engine vehicles.
• Partnering with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s training and hands‑on coaching.
• Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Problem‑solving ability and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer‑service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
• Ability to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies, including the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Willingness to work the required schedule, location, and to receive a background screening, drug screen, and physical as required by the Department of Transportation.

• Must be able to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during the scheduled work period.
• Must use hands daily to grasp, reach, touch, handle, and operate required tools or controls.
• Must be able to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
• Must be able to work safely in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to see and hear in order to safely navigate the work environment amid frequent movement of large trucks.
• Must regularly lift or move up to 50 lb (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lb (45 kg); must also be able to push or pull truck tires exceeding 100 lb.
