Compensation

Hourly rate: $32.00 – $35.00 per hour. Pay may vary by geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

Job Purpose

The Field Service Technician III is a key member of our field service team, responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers and related equipment. Maintaining safety is the top priority. This role mentors less experienced technicians.

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights, near moving mechanical parts, in hazardous areas, and in wet or humid conditions. Exposure to temperature extremes, fumes, traffic, potential electrical shock hazards, noise pollution, and vibration may occur.

Responsibilities
  • Leader in Safety Culture.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety training programs and meetings.
  • Perform basic testing as a crew lead on transformer installation, maintenance, and emergency work.
  • Install, test, and maintain electrical apparatus, including transformer theory of operation knowledge.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and problem‑solving during inspections and apparatus testing.
  • Understand the theory behind testing and analyze results.
  • Create testing plans for apparatus.
  • Operate the oil vacuum processing rig and top off transformers.
  • Perform administrative duties (inspections, job briefings, work order system).
  • Communicate clearly internally and externally.
  • Calisto and other monitoring installations & commissioning.
Required
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
  • High School diploma or GED; supplemental courses in electrical maintenance are desired.
  • Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Physical ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodations).
  • Pass a fit‑for‑duty exam.
  • Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time.
Preferred
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • NCCO Crane Certification.
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical principles.
  • Awareness of hazards and safety precautions in power distribution facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and prints.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of power generation and distribution metering and recording devices.
  • Ability to learn industry practices and procedures.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
