Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, engine, transmissions, clutches, and other related systems.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment and electrical/mechanical/electronic systems.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments and tools; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
  • Manage parts inventory and operate a company-issued service truck with periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients and management to assess needs, provide information, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time effectively; work with autonomy to schedule daily activities.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, and Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks; document work per company standards using the TRAIT application on an iOS device and upload RO documentation.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary and secure approvals for repair estimates when required.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience; alternative combinations such as higher degree/certification or 5 years’ related experience may apply.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Must complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment; if applicable, provide a valid DOT medical card with specified expiration.
  • Minimum age of 21 years due to interstate operating authority; valid driver’s license required and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.

  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems)
  • ASE T7 (HVAC)
  • ASE 608/609 certification

  • Understand implications of new information for current and future problem-solving.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information succinctly; effective two-way communication.
  • Ability to determine required tools and equipment and accurately assess distances and spatial relations.
  • Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and solve problems.
