Position Details: 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm. Weekend shifts required.
Perform public safety and security duties inside and outside the hospital.
Role PurposeArmed Security Officer provides continuous patrols of the Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Washington University Medical Campus within St. Louis City. They maintain safety and wellness of visitors, patients, volunteers, staff and property, and interact with residents, visitors and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Responsibilities- Must be 21 years or older.
- Respond to emergency and non‑emergency situations per approved protocol.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and violations of policy.
- Mitigate crisis situations such as disturbances, fires, and crimes.
- Maintain stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements and coordinating with the Police Department.
- Complete reports by recording observations, occurrences, surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining signatures.
- Secure premises and personnel; monitor surveillance equipment; inspect buildings, equipment, and access points; permit entry through continuous patrols.
- Work in a constant state of alertness; a safety‑sensitive position requiring safe operation above all.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No prior experience required.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Associate’s Degree.
- Less than 2 years of experience.
- ASP Baton Certification.
- CPR/AED Instructor Certification.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
- PPCT Armed Security Officer License.
