Security Officer – Metro Link – St. Clair County, IL. Working in conjunction with a Metropolitan Transit Task Force and our client security teams, Metro Link security professionals provide safety and security of riders on the transit light rail system, station platforms throughout the Greater St. Louis region. Customer service skills are a high priority. This is an outdoor posted position.

Duties will include posting security until relieved.

Position Type: Full Time Metro Link, St. Clair County, IL

  • Military service that included law enforcement or security duties (e.g., military police, elite military forces, and combat arms) or support in a combat zone
  • Eight years' active service in any military branch
  • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice
  • Associate degree in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service
  • Graduation from a certified public safety academy in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighting

Pay Rate: $22.00 / Hour

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter points to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with problem‑solving, observing conditions, giving direction, and requesting additional assistance as needed.
  • Monitor access points and controlled areas, verify identification and/or credentials when required, and help maintain orderly entry and exit consistent with site procedures.
  • Document and report patrol activities, incidents, hazards, and/or maintenance concerns per Allied Universal and site reporting requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have three or more years of combined law enforcement, military, and/or security-related experience, or have a college degree.
  • Have one or more years of security-related experience.
  • Be 21 or more years of age.
  • Be able to lift more than 20 pounds (preferred).
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet (preferred).
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
