Job Description

Our Earth and Environment Team is seeking a part‑time Natural Resources Intern – Summer 2026 to work out of our St. Louis, MO office. This temporary position is for students currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program. The internship is part of the WSP Summer Internship Program and will run for 12 weeks, scheduled to start on May 18 2026 (start date may be flexible).

Impact
  • Support a variety of natural‑resources focused tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of applying natural resources and biological science in the professional consulting workspace.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and technical report writing for private, federal, and/or state compliance projects.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Learn about the regulatory framework established by the U.S. EPA, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state agencies, state water boards, Department of Defense, and other relevant agencies.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation, such as project notes, field notes, meeting minutes, quality control documentation, and SOPs.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Required Qualifications
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited environmental science or natural‑resources‑specific program (e.g., Biology, Fisheries & Wildlife, Botany) with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental science, wildlife biology, fisheries science, botany, herpetology, or related fields, and a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited environmental science, biology, fisheries & wildlife science, botany, natural‑resources‑specific program or related master’s or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
  • Actively participates in local professional organizations.
Compensation

Expected salary: $20.87 – $27.50 per hour. WSP USA provides this compensation range based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances unrelated to the applicant’s sex or other protected status.
