Job DescriptionUKS Research Group seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with demonstrated experience in automated flow chemistry and enabling technologies. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing reconfigurable, modular, and automation‑ready continuous‑flow platforms integrating photo‑ and electro‑catalysis for the synthesis of biologically active molecules and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). This position is ideal for a candidate working at the interface of organic synthesis, chemical automation, and instrumentation, with experience in photo‑ and/or electro‑catalysis, inline analytics (IR, HPLC, MS), and 3D printing or rapid prototyping.
The role involves designing and assembling flow systems, implementing automation scripts, and applying machine‑learning tools for data‑driven optimization. Prior industrial or automation‑focused experience and involvement in grant writing are highly desirable.
- Develop and optimize automated continuous‑flow reactions in organic and medicinal chemistry.
- Design, assemble, and operate modular flow systems, including reactors and inline analytics.
- Implement automation workflows, including Python‑based scripting for instrument control, data acquisition, and reaction optimization.
- Utilize 3D printing and rapid prototyping to fabricate custom flow reactors and system components.
- Maintain and troubleshoot flow, photochemical, and electrochemical instrumentation.
- Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students in flow chemistry and automation.
- Prepare peer‑reviewed publications, technical reports, and presentations.
- Actively contribute to grant and proposal writing.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners on multidisciplinary projects.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Hands‑on experience with flow chemistry demonstrated via recent peer reviewed publications.
- Working knowledge of automation and modular flow setups.
- Proficiency or strong working knowledge of Python.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsPhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field, with demonstrated experience in automation for continuous flow synthesis through postdoctoral or industrial research.
