Location: St. Louis

Position Summary

The Boon Lab at WashU in St. Louis is looking for an enthusiastic Post‑doctoral fellow to support our team studying cellular immune responses to influenza virus and SARS‑CoV‑2 in mouse and hamster models. The projects in the lab include assessing the role of T and B cell immunity on virus infection and transmission, evaluating innovative virus vaccines, developing assays and reagents for hamster immunology, and identifying T cell epitopes in different viruses and species.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with grant preparation and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit papers on research.
  • Assist in the design of research experiments.
  • Evaluate research findings and assist in reporting the results.
  • Maintain conscientious discharge of research responsibilities.
  • Maintain conformity with ethical standards in research.
  • Maintain compliance with good laboratory practice, including adequate research records.
  • Engage in open and timely discussion with mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to the laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
  • Conduct collegial interactions towards co‑trainees, staff members, and members of the research group.
  • Adhere to all applicable university policies, procedures, and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in university laboratories remain the property of the university.
Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Education & Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or Equivalent Terminal or Doctoral Degree.

Preferred Qualifications
PhD in immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology, or a similar field.
Have published one or more papers in peer‑reviewed journals.
Ability to guide research projects.
Have background in or desire to learn bioinformatics analysis techniques.
Good interpersonal skills and willingness to mentor students and technicians.
Excellent speaking, reading and writing skills.
