** Position Summary
** A postdoctoral position (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Erica Schmitt in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Rheumatology/Immunology at WashU.
The Schmitt Lab studies immune dysregulation in inborn errors of immunity. We are specifically interested in investigating the mechanisms leading to T and B cell dysregulation. In complementary studies, we are investigating antigen-specific responses and mucosal tolerance using multiple different in vivo and in vitro models and human samples.

** Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

** Information on being a postdoc at WashU in St. Louis can be found at .Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
* Manages their own project, which should lead to a first author publication.
* Develops proficiency with mouse models of immune dysregulation and designing experiments to investigate mechanisms leading to immune dysregulation.
* Acquires enhanced skills in writing, public speaking, and critical evaluation of scientific documents.
* Presents scientific work both inside and outside the institution.
* Assists with grant preparation and reporting and submits training grant applications to support their work.
* Prepares and submits papers on research. Assists in the design of research experiments.
* Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.

* Working Conditions:

** This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
** Salary Range:
** Base pay is commensurate with experience.
