Overview

ABNA is seeking a Quality Technician to perform tests of construction materials on site or in controlled laboratory situations. The technician provides results to clients on specific jobs and ensures quality throughout construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs field‑testing of concrete, soil, asphalt and other materials.
  • Conducts batch plant inspections of concrete and asphalt.
  • Conducts inspections during installation of construction materials.
  • Reviews project instructions to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, and equipment.
  • Analyzes test results in relation to design or rated specifications.
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product and test methods.
  • Cares for and maintains test equipment.
  • Communicates regularly with client and contractor personnel on job sites.
  • Follows safety standards and guidelines.
  • Adapts to changing circumstances and environments.
  • Maintains accurate, legible, organized record keeping.
  • Prepares and writes routine reports and correspondence.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Zero to three years of materials testing experience or related training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, equipment and vehicle operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to address customers and employees.
  • Mathematical knowledge of probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, multitasking, proactive and deadline‑oriented.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Professional / Technical Credentials
  • ACI, MoDOT Technician Certification, IDOT Technician Certification or ability to obtain within six months.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods; use hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally sit, climb or balance.
  • Successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and cooperative relationships.
