Description
Corrections LPNs work in the St. Louis County Justice Services Center located in Clayton. The responsibilities of this position include performing nursing duties under the supervision of an RN Supervisor or RN. The primary duty of the LPN is to dispense medication. These positions typically do not require LPNs to provide patient personal care assistance.
A 10% shift differential is available for evening work. Candidates with ACLS Certification receive an additional $1.25 per hour, capped at $100 per pay period. Full‑time LPNs can select a day/evening rotating shift or a straight evening shift that includes every other weekend and alternate holidays. No straight day shifts are offered. Typical shifts are 8 hours. The department is hiring for full time, part time and PRN roles.
Duties- Prepares and refills medication carts to administer prescribed medication to residents inside the housing units.
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage and time of administration on specified forms or records.
- Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or administers medications using specified procedures.
- Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medication and prepares reports or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
- Records and restocks medication inventories.
- Provides education and teaching to promote resident wellness.
- Performs additional duties in accordance with the parameters of a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Requires completion of a one‑year training program at an accredited school for Practical Nurses and licensure as a Practical Nurse by the State of Missouri.

A selection committee will evaluate applicants against minimum qualifications and other criteria. Applicants scoring 70 or more on the interview will be forwarded to a Conviction Questionnaire, which must be completed within 3 days. The top five candidates will be certified to the Department Director for final appointment. Conditional offers require a mandatory urinalysis; the cost is covered by the County.

Acceptable proof includes CDC vaccination cards, provider documentation, electronic health records, or state immunization information system records. Fully vaccinated employees must have received an FDA EUA‑approved vaccine series. Individuals with medical or religious contraindications may request an exemption, but exempt employees must wear facial coverings and submit to weekly testing.
