RN Specialty - Endocrinology Diabetic Nurse Educator

Overview

Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork. The incumbent shall carry out responsibilities consistent with the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and the dignity of each person, applying Christian values to crucial human issues.

• Education:
  
  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Knowledge of nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment procedures; knowledge of medications and their effects; patient education; self-care programming; instruments and common safety practices.
• Licensure:
  Current valid state license.
• Certifications:
  
  CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  Diabetic Nurse Educator (DNE) required; ability to assist and perform a variety of medical treatments and procedures; calm, effective response in emergencies; ability to interpret and apply guidelines and policies; clear communication and ability to establish and maintain relationships with patients, staff and the public; basic computer skills or ability to learn to access information and enter data.
• Equipment Used:
  Ability to operate equipment normally related to the clinic specialty.
