Position Summary
This key role will support general pediatric physicians within the Division of Academic Pediatrics in providing clinical care in a dynamic outpatient setting. Scheduled
Hours:
40, regular clinic hours Monday thru Friday, no weekends. Primary role: triaging care and managing tasks related to general pediatric patients including paperwork, orders and scheduling patients. Procedure skills: obtain respiratory swabs (NP swab, Strep Throat testing) and catheterized urine samples. Position provides specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments and examinations according to established procedures. Primary work location:
St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs and documents assessment of the patient and family (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental); collects and analyzes data from the medical record to coordinate patient care.
- Directs and provides patient care, including administering medication, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
- Provides appropriate counsel and education to patient and family regarding disease process and symptom management.
- Maintains medical records with timely recording of patient information.
- Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates cost‑effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcome.
- Other duties as assigned to support patient care, the department, and the division.

Physical Effort:
Typically sitting at desk or table; typically bending, crouching, stooping; occasional lifting (25 lbs or less).
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act.
- Completion of National Specialty Certification relevant
