Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County that offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and provides pediatric care at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St.

Louis Children’s Hospital. Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The Magnet® designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care, earned by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital #2 in the St.

Louis metro area. Neuro is a 24‑bed unit that provides care to all types of neurological patients, such as stroke, seizure, and multiple sclerosis, as well as general medicine patients.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing care standards.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment; educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post‑treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and patient, family, or caregiver, following established nursing standards; proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to care standards; assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
  • Recognized as a safety‑sensitive position, requiring constant alertness and safe performance of tasks.
