Overview
Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.
Position:
Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICU at BJWCH is a 4-bed ICU environment for patients needing critical care support or post-surgical care. The unit team also serves as members of the clinical emergency response team for the hospital. This position offers a clear path for growth into a Team Lead/Charge Nurse role. We are looking for RNs who can become part of a learning and growing team.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family. Proactively plans and communicates the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
- This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
