The Heart Center is Children’s Hospital is a regionally prominent, nationally recognized pediatric heart program. It provides care across the spectrum of pediatric heart disease, including cardiac surgeries and catheterizations, and serves as a resource for second opinions and referrals for advanced pediatric heart care.
Position Details- Provide care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease in the Intensive Care Unit and on the Transitional Care unit.
- Schedule:
Rotating shifts (12 hours) - Weekend and holiday rotation
- Flexible scheduling
- Preferred:
Prior Heart Center or CICU experience (RN or NP) - Preferred:
Prior pediatric experience, Pediatric Acute Care NP certification
- Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient- and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, treatment of critically ill, or end-of-life care.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals.
- Demonstrates accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiatives, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization.
- Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for critically ill patients and families with acute health needs.
- This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.

Master’s Degree, Nursing - Experience:

Certifications:
Licensed APRN in Missouri;
National APRN Board Certification

The critical care nurse practitioner is a healthcare provider who works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families in critical care settings. They demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and system-based practice. They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, trainees, and other staff to ensure safe, effective, high-quality patient care.
- Minimum Board Certification: AGACNP or ACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP or Acute Care NP); CPNP-PC, CPNP-AC, or FNP depending on unit (SLCH ICU, SLCH NICU as applicable).
