Responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit on a 24-hour basis. Oversees a span of control and financial responsibility with appropriate staffing and budget management.
Responsibilities- Manages individuals including hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and professional development; ensures productivity and actions align with department goals.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets; responds to changes affecting budget goals.
- Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence-based clinical and management practices.
- Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards; maintains up-to-date policies and participates in revisions as needed.
- Promotes customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans and outcomes in the work unit.
- Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems to improve efficiency of unit operations.
- Supports and assists growth of existing or new programs.
