Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County offering a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women’s and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in partnership with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Role Purpose

Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and serves as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents the nursing process for the assigned unit as required.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization through discharge and into ambulatory care.
  • Lead the development and implementation of complex individual care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
  • Champion evidence‑based practice through participation in journal clubs, practice change initiatives, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Analyze gaps in practice standards and provide feedback to peers and leadership to enhance patient safety.
  • Lead evaluation of patient and family experience, adjusting care to improve satisfaction and quality.
  • Maintain constant alertness and perform job functions safely in a safety‑sensitive position.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    Nursing Diploma, Associate’s, or RN license.
  • Experience:

    2–5 years as a registered nurse.
  • Supervisor

    Experience:

    No prior supervisory experience required.
  • Licenses &

    Certifications:

    Current RN license.
Preferred Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience:

    5–10 years as a registered nurse.
