• Registration as a Registered Nurse and advanced training and experience acquired through a Nurse Practitioner program in a relevant specialty area and three years of related experience.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Missouri (some positions).
• Certification as an Adult Medical Nurse Practitioner (ANP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (some positions).
• Certification as an Obstetrical and Gynecological Nurse Practitioner or equivalent (some positions).
• Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (some positions).
• Certification as a Women's Healthcare Nurse Practitioner (some positions).
• Certification as a Diabetic Educator by the American Diabetic Association (some positions).
• Document of Recognition as an Advance Practice Nurse (APN) by the Missouri State Board of Nursing (some positions).

A selection committee evaluates each applicant’s qualifications, including education, experience, supplemental questions, employment references, etc. Candidates are shortlisted based on the most job‑related qualifications and may be required to achieve a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview. The top five candidates are certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for the final decision. Conditional offers require urinalysis screening for illegal drug use before appointment, at no cost to the employee.
