Medical-ICU 8300/8400 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (South Campus) – 42-bed MICU.
The Medical ICU (MICU) on the day shift seeks a Team Lead/Charge RN to plan, direct, and coordinate unit activities. The role includes direct patient care as needed and acting as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff.
Responsibilities- Facilitate identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization through discharge and into ambulatory care.
- Lead development and implementation of complex care plans in collaboration with interprofessional team and patient/family, ensuring alignment with established guidelines and standards.
- Promote evidence-based practices, participate in professional development activities, and support practice change based on new knowledge.
- Evaluate patient and family experience and adjust care to improve satisfaction and quality of care.
- Recognize safety considerations; BJC designates this as a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness and safe performance of duties.
- Nursing Diploma/Associate's degree; RN license
- 2-5 years of current/recent ICU and/or ED RN experience
- BSN highly preferred due to Magnet Status
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- 5-10 years of experience

The MICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a 42-bed unit with a broad range of critical care needs. The team includes physicians, residents, nurses, NPs, PCCS, therapists, dietitian, pharmacist, social work, and case management. Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1, with some patients requiring 1:1 due to high acuity.
