Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Step Down RN for night shifts, requiring at least two years of recent acute care experience and a MO or compact RN license.

• Work in a Step Down Unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Typical patient ratio is 1:4
• Assignments include titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, trach vents, art lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
• Floating to lower acuity floors required as needed
• Weekend shifts required: two shifts every other weekend, with variable nights depending on rotation
• Uses EPIC charting; prior EPIC experience required on certain units
• Step down RNs will manage high acuity patients requiring advanced interventions
• Navy scrubs required for all shifts
• No on-call requirements
• Returning permanent employees must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of seven days requested time off allowed per 13 week contract; no RTO allowed during orientation week
• All standard travelers may work for a maximum of 18 months with a required three-month break afterward
• No first-time travelers will be considered for this position

• Modules and training are completed during pre-start orientation

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Minimum two years of recent bedside experience in a step down or equivalent setting
• Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS
• Must have experience with titration of critical care drips and management of advanced airway and cardiac devices
• EPIC EMR experience required on certain units
• Must have worked at the bedside within the last six months
• No local candidates accepted; candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius
