self-sufficiency programs; a food pantry; and a resale shop. Together, these services bring stability, dignity, and hope to children, adults, and seniors across St. Louis City.
The S.T.A.N.D. Coordinator plays a critical role in developing and coordinating community-based strategies to address and respond to violence. This position works closely with community members, partner organizations, and local stakeholders to provide crisis response, survivor support, prevention education, and healing-centered services aimed at reducing violence and its long-term impact.
Responsibilities- Program Development & Coordination – Develop and implement a community-based violence response program in collaboration with local stakeholders.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and community organizations to ensure a comprehensive and unified response to incidents of violence.
- Crisis Intervention & Survivor Support – Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals and families impacted by violence, including victims, witnesses, and loved ones.
- Connect survivors to internal GASA resources such as food pantry services, clothing assistance, and rent or utility support.
- Facilitate referrals to community partners for counseling, legal services, emergency housing, home repair, and supplemental financial assistance.
- Community Outreach & Education – Conduct outreach to raise awareness of violence prevention, safety planning, and available resources.
- Develop and deliver workshops, trainings, and presentations focused on violence prevention, trauma-informed care, and conflict resolution.
- Data Collection & Program Evaluation – Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to violence trends, incidents, and program outcomes.
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data and community feedback.
- Collaboration & Partnership Building – Build and maintain strong partnerships with the St. Louis Office of Violence Prevention and the St. Louis Area Violence Prevention Commission.
- Participate in community coalitions, task forces, and committees dedicated to violence prevention and community safety.
- Cultural Competency & Equity – Address the intersection of violence with race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
- Ensure services are culturally competent, inclusive, and responsive to diverse community needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, criminal justice, or a related field OR extensive experience in violence prevention, crisis intervention, or community advocacy.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and best practices for supporting survivors of violence.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and public-speaking communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and empowerment of underserved communities.
- Support and uphold GASA’s mission and values.
- Assist with agency operations as needed.
- Participate in fundraising, outreach, and community awareness initiatives.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Represent GASA at community meetings, events, and trainings.
