Job Summary
This position works 8‑hour shifts that rotate (Day, Night, First, Second, and Third shift) on a regular rotation including weekend and holidays. Under the direction and supervision of a supervisor, the operator safely and efficiently operates and controls chemical processes to deliver in‑spec product and meet production schedules.
Responsibilities- Control and monitor dispersion, centrifugation, and classifying processes, and sludge disposal per standard operating instructions.
- Provide guidance and training to new operators.
- Clean process equipment as required or as directed.
- Inspect all related and ancillary equipment and instrumentation for proper operation and accuracy.
- Control and monitor flash drying, dewatering, and classifying processes per standard operating instructions.
- Control and monitor low‑pressure boiler, fluid bed drying, raw material bulk bag unloading, and packaging processes per standard operating instructions.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures, including appropriate protective gear and emergency response.
- Proficiency in operating and managing packaging machinery, adjusting settings, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent time‑management skills to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Adaptability to embrace change and improve processes.
- Stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or error may lead to an unwanted event.
- Operate forklift and other relevant equipment.
- Takes process samples and makes process adjustments at specific locations.
- Visually monitor process equipment and analytical test equipment.
High School Diploma or Equivalent. 2‑5 years in chemical manufacturing preferred.
Language SkillsVerbal and written fluency in English.
Physical Requirements- Pass fit‑for‑duty exam, respirator medical clearance, and fit test; be able to wear a respirator during strenuous activity.
- Meet hearing conservation program requirements.
- Stand and walk for long periods, climb, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motions.
- Lift and carry up to 55 pounds; no more than 100 pounds without assistance.
- Manually disconnect and connect process hoses; handle large hoses and turn valves.
- Carry chemical test sample containers up to 20 pounds and walk upstairs to the lab or other work platforms.
The base pay rate is $29.89 per hour. Compensation may include health benefits, life insurance, 401(k), vacation, and other components.
