JOB:
Sanitation Supervisor

HOURS: 10:30PM TO 7:30AM Monday through Friday, Saturday as scheduled

Reports to:
General Manager

The purpose of this position is to supervise an assigned shift of the Sanitation Department operations to ensure exemplary sanitary standards inside and outside the manufacturing facility. This position assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the sanitation programs and SSOPs to meet company standards, Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements. This position reports to the Production Sanitarian. The position responsibilities shall be, but are not limited to the functions as described below:

General Qualifications
  • Complete a Chemical Safety Training before handling chemicals.
  • Complete GMP (Good Manufacturing Process), HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point), and Allergen Training.
  • Meet all requirements of the SQF Program
  • Comply with all GMP requirements.
  • Comply with all requirements for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as defined by the appropriate plant procedures.
  • Comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Assist in the oversight, coordination, and scheduling of applicable sanitation activities within the Sanitation Department that maximize efficiency, productivity, and safety of all sanitation employees while fostering a team environment.
  • Supervise the process of cleaning and sanitizing, and the waste removal in all manufacturing areas. Identify, report, and resolve conditions or practices that compromise personal safety, food safety, or overall sanitation effectiveness.
  • Monitor and verify the effectiveness of the sanitation processes through daily post sanitation (Pre-Op) inspection, coordination of environmental monitoring program with QA teams, and trending of vital data obtained through environmental monitoring.
  • Provide continuous improvement of Sanitation Department employees in safe and effective sanitation practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Sanitation employees are trained using computer-based training including Alchemy Training System.
  • Assist in the development of, and ensure compliance with all SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), Sanitation Checklists and Forms, and MSS (Master Sanitation Schedule).
  • Implement and provide leadership in administering the Safety Program. Participate and lead various meetings and employee training seminars, including department meetings.
  • Counsel employees as needed concerning attendance, performance, policies, procedures, and safety in accordance with ICS regulations.
  • Work with Production Sanitarian to maintain proper documentation of programs including:
    Daily Cleaning Checklist, Master Sanitation Schedule, Training Records, Chemical Inventory, Cleaning Supplies and PPE inventory, etc.
  • Ensure minimal downtime by working together with Maintenance Department to perform required PM functions in order to reduce parts loss and damage.
  • Participate in the monthly food safety audits of the facility performed by cross-functional leadership. Plays a key role’s OSHA safety, accident reduction, and employee retention.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels of chemicals, equipment, tools, and supplies; as well as chemical usage control.
  • Verify/adjust employee time cards.
  • Coordinate with the QA department and Production Sanitarian to research any and all environmental and micro count occurrences utilizing RCA process to identify and address issues and solutions.
  • Followall ICS Safety rules, reporting safety hazards and incidents to a member of management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one-year experience supervising a Sanitation Department in a food processing facility or related field.
  • Excellent verbal, organizational, written and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide proactive leadership, motivation and supervision to employees at all levels.
  • Experience managing a Master Cleaning Schedule to ensure compliance with GMP and Government Regulations.
  • Knowledge of CIP (Clean-In-Place), COP (Clean-Out-Of-Place), equipment and facility cleaning procedures.
