Job Purpose: The Oil Lab Technician is responsible for the testing and documentation of transformer insulating fluids. Candidate must be detail-oriented, have experience working with chemicals, and be confident working with electronic test instruments in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document incoming fluid samples from customers.
• Perform checks and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
• Test fluid samples to determine their physical, electrical, and chemical properties.
• Analyze test results to confirm their validity.
• Perform routine maintenance on test equipment.
• Wash glassware and sample containers as necessary.
• Maintain laboratory as a clean and orderly work area
• Coordinate the distribution of sampling materials to customers.
• Participate in lab quality programs and improvements.

Qualifications

• Required: High School diploma or GED. Must be able to frequently kneel, bend, stand, crouch, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds to accomplish job tasks.
• Preferred: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field of science. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong skills working with computers and digital testing equipment, including efficient data entry.
• Ability to work safely, accurately, and efficiently both independently and as part of a small team.
• Capable of prioritizing multiple goals to meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work overtime when necessitated by laboratory workload.
• Professional experience working in a laboratory setting is a plus but not required.
