Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician/Mechanic will work in partnership with Maintenance leadership and Production leadership to perform basic maintenance and repairs on food manufacturing machinery equipment, including conveyors, packaging equipment, production equipment, electrical controls systems and other related plant systems, while adhering to safety rules and focusing on food safety.

• Sign‑On Bonus: $2,000 paid out over 6 months

• Able to complete paperwork for checklists, work orders, and other documentation through the site maintenance management system.
• Regularly performs preventative, predictive, and planned maintenance of mechanical and utilities equipment.
• Frequently uses a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times; performs electrical troubleshooting with thorough knowledge of AC/DC, 230‑volt, and 480‑volt 3‑phase systems.
• Supports production with process improvement.
• Demonstrates high mechanical skill in pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, and lubrication on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and packaging equipment.
• Understands the functionality of production equipment in the assigned area.
• Mentors Level 1 maintenance technicians and indirectly mentors production employees on equipment run‑through.
• Fixed: fabricates components as needed to ensure production line operation.
• Has intermediate proficiency with a lathe, grinder, and drill for fabricating jigs, fixtures, and tools.
• Collaborates positively with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Adheres to all safety rules (LOTO, confined space, hot work) and plant policies on SQF, FSMA, HACCP, GMP, Food Quality, Food Defense, and Food Fraud.
• Reports immediately any fraud issues or discrepancies.
• Minimum of 1 year equivalent maintenance experience preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years machine operator experience required.
• Prior experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred.
• Self‑starter who works efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills; team player.
• Basic math skills; ability to work from heights.
• Initiative to acquire additional skills and cross‑train in other technical areas.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, machine understanding, and proficiency in hydraulics, blueprint reading, and electrical repair.
• Knowledge of PLCs, motors, drives, schematics, and single/three phase motors.
• Familiar with continuous improvement tools such as 5S, maintenance reliability, and OEE.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

• Ability to lift at least 55 pounds unassisted; periodically lift up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to climb, kneel, crawl and work at elevation.
• Distance and color vision acuity required.
