OverviewBarnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and one of the nation’s top hospitals. The site supports a high-acuity environment with world-renowned surgeons and anesthesiologists. As an anesthesia support manager, you will oversee technical services across all operating rooms and remote procedural areas, ensuring equipment readiness and staff competency.
Role PurposeResponsible for the planning, direction, and coordination of all aspects of the anesthesia workforce and technical services across a high‑acuity hospital. Oversee a 24/7 team supporting multiple operating rooms and all “remote” procedural areas.
Responsibilities- Ensure anesthesia equipment, monitoring devices, supplies, carts, and tools are properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and positioned.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with Clinical Engineering; maintain redundancy to minimize downtime.
- Develop and monitor policies, SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance; oversee technician onboarding and ongoing education.
- Design staffing models that meet 24/7 needs; lead recruitment, retention, and career development.
- Track KPIs (equipment uptime, response times, case‑delay rates, supply costs); lead improvement initiatives.
- Act as liaison among anesthesia providers, OR leadership, procedural service leaders, equipment support, supply chain, and hospital leadership.
- Manage performance, evaluations, and professional development for the team.
- Develop and adhere to departmental staffing, revenue, and expense budgets.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or related field.
- Supervisor experience: 2 years.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Supervisor experience: 2–5 years.
- RN license.
- Registered Nurse (RN)
