Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing daily maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of facility equipment and systems. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining building infrastructure, boiler operations, and HVAC/Refrigeration systems to support efficient production and safety compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain the spare parts and tools inventory to ensure availability for maintenance tasks.
  • Document all work performed in the computerized maintenance work order system (e.g., Red Zone) with accurate, detailed information.
  • Collaborate with the production team and maintenance leadership to address urgent repairs and facility improvements.
Equipment and Systems Management
  • Monitor and maintain facility infrastructure, including utilities such as water, gas, electric, compressed air, and vacuum systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Support the implementation and execution of preventive maintenance (PM) programs.
Boiler & Mechanical Room Operations
  • Monitor boiler operations and address any issues or abnormal findings.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with boiler service agreements and industry standards.
  • Perform audits and routine checks on mechanical room systems to ensure optimal functionality.
Process & Project Support
  • Assist in the execution of maintenance projects, including equipment upgrades and system installations.
  • Work with external contractors and internal teams to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide feedback and insights to the Senior Maintenance and Facilities Leader to improve maintenance processes and efficiencies.
  • While the primary focus of this role is the maintenance of building and utility systems as outlined above, Facility Technicians are also expected to spend time supporting Maintenance Technicians as needed. This support is reciprocal.
  • Facility Technicians should develop familiarity with production equipment and be prepared to assist Maintenance Technicians with repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Deli Star’s Maintenance, Facilities, and Engineering teams work collaboratively with one another and in close partnership with other functional groups across the organization.
  • Facility Technicians must be prepared to support any functional group with building, utility, production equipment, or safety-related needs within the facility environment.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational training or certification in facilities/industrial maintenance, HVAC, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of HVAC systems, commercial/industrial refrigeration, and boiler operations is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in maintenance or related technical roles (1-2 years) is a plus, but not required.
  • Exposure to food manufacturing environments or familiarity with industry safety standards is beneficial.
