Job Description

We are seeking a mission-driven Geospatial Data Scientist with an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance to support cutting-edge geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) analysis and operational solutions. In this role, you will apply advanced data science, machine learning, and spatial analytics to detect patterns, support decision-making, and deliver insights from high-volume geospatial and imagery datasets. This role blends analytical rigor with practical problem-solving in support of NGA’s core mission: providing timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of U.S. national security missions.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage large and diverse geospatial datasets — including imagery, remote sensing, sensor feeds, and spatial databases — to extract actionable insights for national intelligence and defense missions.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics approaches to solve complex spatial and temporal problems.
  • Integrate data science workflows into GEOINT analytic pipelines and collaborate with cross-functional teams (analysts, software engineers, product leads) to operationalize analytical outputs.
  • Produce high-quality visualizations, dashboards, and spatial summaries that clearly communicate key results to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Validate and document modeling approaches; conduct rigorous experiments and maintain reproducible analytic codebases.
  • Support prototypes, tools, or automation that enhance analytic productivity and force multiplier effects across the agency.
Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, GIScience, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, or related quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience applying statistics, machine learning, or data mining to real-world problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with analytical tools and languages such as Python, R, SQL, and spatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, Geo Pandas, Arc Py).
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats and systems (GIS, remote sensing, imagery products).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a high-stakes environment.
  • Deep analytical capabilities and mission focus — strong technically, collaborative in execution, and committed to operational excellence.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (like Tensor Flow, PyTorch) for geospatial or imagery analysis.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native analytics and containerized workflows.
  • Understanding of intelligence community processes and GEOINT tradecraft.
  • Prior work in defense, intelligence, or national security analytics.
