Data Architect

What You Will Be Doing

As a member of an agile engineering team, you will be responsible for developing complex cloud-native data processing capabilities for an AWS-based data analytics platform and portal application. You will render requirements into high-scale architectural data models and advise on their implementation into cloud-native database technologies. You will lead the selection of best-of-breed data management technologies and work toward an enterprise-level data strategy that treats data as a key asset.

• Architectural Design
  :
  Render requirements into architectural data models that operate at large scale and high performance.
• Collaboration
  :
  Communicate with stakeholders to meet commitments and partner with application engineering for product development.
• Standards & Documentation
  :
  Document data management best practices, standards, and reference architectures, while publishing data models for development teams.
• System Optimization
  :
  Investigate data quality and advise on methods to improve system reliability and performance.
• Governance
  :
  Take the lead on impact analysis for DDL/DML changes and collaborate with peer architects to eliminate duplication of work.
• Security & Automation
  :
  Implement best practices in data security and audit, developing automated solutions where possible.
• Release Management
  :
  Ensure CI/CD pipeline and release practices are followed consistently.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or commensurate experience.
• Professional Experience
  : 7+ years of proven experience designing and delivering cross-functional data solutions and data pipelines.
• Big Data Expertise
  :
  Proven experience in designing big data solutions using tools such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Database Knowledge
  :
  Deep experience with Relational and Analytical SQL databases, specifically Postgres and Redshift.
• AWS Cloud Services
  :
  Proficiency with EC2, S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Sage Maker, Quick Sight, Config, Security Hub, and Inspector.
• Agile/SDLC
  :
  Working experience in Agile development methodologies and the full SDLC.
• Communication
  :
  Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support multiple teams and products.

• Experience in conducting data architecture evaluations and reporting on technical deficiencies.
• Resourcefulness in identifying ways to mitigate issues and risks to avoid project delays.

$84.00 - $120.00/ hr.
