The MRI TECHNOLOGIST/TECHNICIAN, under the direct supervision of a radiologist, performs quality magnetic resonance imaging scans on patients of all ages.

Shift: Day 4x10‑Hour (12:00 - 22:30)
Location: 1 Barnes Jewish Hospital Plaza, Saint Louis, MO 63110
Duration: 16 weeks

Education
:
Technician – Associate’s degree in an MRI program of study;
Technologist – Bachelor’s degree in an MRI program of study.
Licensure
:
State‑specific current and unrestricted license or registration to practice as an MRI technologist/technician in the state of practice, e.g., ARRT registration.

Experience
:
One year of current MRI technologist/technician experience in a clinical setting.
Credentials
:
Current CPR certification at least; other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.

Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.

• Complies with ATC policies/procedures.
• Complies with client facility policies/procedures.
• Provides patient care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
• Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
• Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with HIPAA.
• Continues education to maintain competency and satisfies state requirements.
• Interviews patient and explains MRI procedures.
• Positions patient on the examining table following protocols requested by the radiologist.
• Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into the computer.
• Demonstrates knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
• Monitors patient safety and comfort, and views images on video display to ensure quality.
