Overview
BJC is hiring for a Healthcare Informatics Specialist. This is a hybrid position and this role is working in Epic Optime. We are looking for candidates with OR or PACU experience.
RoleBarnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. It was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
As a Level I trauma center, an OR suite is always available for a critically injured patient. Operating rooms at Barnes-Jewish Hospital are divided into five pods with 12 to 15 operating rooms each dedicated to one service area.
- Demonstrates expertise in design and application of theories, methods and processes for the generation, storage, retrieval, use and sharing of biomedical information and knowledge.
- Demonstrates expertise in computing, communication and information sciences technology application in biomedicine.
- Demonstrates expertise in standards and best practices in the implementation and deployment of technical solutions.
- Demonstrates expertise in standards and best practices in the evaluation of technical solutions.
- Leads or is considered the subject matter expert for a breadth of complex projects and strategic initiatives, including translating national standards and initiatives into strategic direction for the department. Projects will include study design, healthcare vocabularies, decision support research, healthcare data exchange standard, clinical workflow as it relates to technology.

Bachelor’s Degree — Health Informatics/related - Experience:
5-10 years
