American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg assignment in a Level I Trauma Center, requiring a MO or compact RN license and trauma experience.

Job Details

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit within a short-term acute care, Magnet, and teaching hospital,

• Patient population includes medical, geriatric trauma (age 55+), ortho trauma, surgical, and trauma cases such as abuse victims, MVA/MVC, falls, and acute care surgery patients,

• Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-5,

• Responsibilities include care of patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, total joint replacements, surgical drains, chest tubes, and respiratory support devices,

• Special equipment includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators,

• Uses EPIC EMR; EPIC charting experience required,

• Required to work every other weekend,

• Day shifts are scheduled as 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30),

• Floating within service line and potentially to affiliated hospitals is required,

• No on-call responsibilities,

• Block scheduling is not available,

Job Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license required at time of consideration,

• BLS (BCLS) and ACLS certifications required,

• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required,

• Level 1 Trauma experience required,

• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and must pass Relias EKG exam,

• Experience with blood product administration, peripheral IV care, phlebotomy, insulin administration, PCA, and respiratory equipment,

• Prior experience with EPIC EMR is required,

• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius,

• Pending license accepted for consideration, but must be in hand before starting,

• Permanent employees must wait one year before returning as a traveler,

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for a diverse patient population including trauma, ortho, surgical, and critical cases,

• Team supports floating within service line and to nearby affiliate hospitals,

• Facial hair requirements apply for fit-testing; must be able to obtain a proper mask seal,

• Navy blue scrubs are required,

• Orientation parking instructions and fees vary based on shift schedule,

• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted in the first week,

• Up to 18 months of assignment allowed before a 3 month break is required,

• Labs and online modules must be completed pre-start as part of onboarding,

• No medical marijuana cards accepted,
