Sterile Processing Tech -STLC

Overview

The Sterile Processing Technician supports the Central Services team at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital in an evening shift. The role requires decontamination, sterilization and distribution of surgical instrumentation to operating rooms and procedural areas. Candidates may bring prior sterile processing or patient care experience.

• Assemble, disassemble and process instrument sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritize tasks according to the surgery schedule.
• Follow industry standards to test functionality and assemble instrumentation and power equipment for a range of surgical specialties.
• Utilize and troubleshoot steam sterilizers and low‑temperature sterilizers; notify engineering for repairs as needed.
• Build case carts for just‑in‑time delivery to procedural areas or operating rooms; transport carts while preventing cross‑contamination.
• Maintain and control sterile and non‑sterile supplies; identify and remedy equipment or process failures and hazards.
• Work as a high‑functioning member of a team supporting clinics, procedural areas and research instrumentation.
• Recognize this as a safety‑sensitive position; work in a constant state of alertness and safety.

• High School Diploma or GED
• No required experience
• No required supervisor experience

• Licenses and certifications:
  Bd for Sterile Processing/Dist, CRCST, IAHCSMM
