Overview

Description:

Performs clerical and health professional assistant duties for the WIC Program. All employees of FCHC must ensure service standards are delivered, including the following FCHC core values and customer service expectations.

• Demonstrates a commitment to FCHC mission and vision; maintains a positive attitude towards patients, employees, and the health center; upholds FCHC core values (accountability, courtesy, excellence, flexibility, integrity, respect).
• Provides customer service-oriented interactions with internal staff and external customers; greets individuals upon entry; responds promptly to requests, tasks, and inquiries; communicates tactfully; exhibits conflict resolution skills to foster teamwork; adheres to the dress code and maintains appropriate appearance.
• Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality; supports a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion; participates in training and professional development; attends department meetings and trainings to stay up to date on policies and procedures.
• Adheres to a culture of safety and cleanliness; follows HIPAA/confidentiality standards; uses health center equipment properly and safely.

• Provides clerical support to the nutrition department (answering telephone, scheduling appointments, etc.).
• Collects and enters WIC certification data, including demographic information, anthropometric data, biochemical data, immunizations data, and other necessary health information, in accordance with Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and WIC policies.
• Provides all aspects of WIC program explanation and documents appropriately; issues WIC benefits; coordinates patient flow with other members of the health care team; communicates effectively with WIC staff to create an efficient system and quality program while maintaining WIC caseload.
• Refer clients to appropriate community, health, and social services; promote breastfeeding as the preferred method of feeding and refer participants for follow-up with the breastfeeding team as needed.
• Maintains a professional and respectful attitude toward all WIC participants and patients; supports objectives for the WIC Local Agency Plan; attends nutrition department meetings and trainings to stay up to date on policies and procedures.

• Attends continuing education opportunities as appropriate; participates in WIC community outreach activities; performs other duties as assigned.

Inside Health Center:
All inclusive. Outside Health Center:
Patients, health care professionals, and other community health agencies.

• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• Two (2) years Medical Assistant or health care setting experience preferred.
• Two (2) years experience in a community health nutrition program preferred.
• Must demonstrate good customer service and communication skills.
• Successful completion of the state required training within the time designated by the state WIC office.

Respect for and maintenance of client and staff confidentiality is required. Position contingent upon continued WIC funding.
