Overview
St. Louis Children’s Hospital is recruiting a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to support the Heart Center. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday, daytime position supporting both the Cardiac ICU and Cardiac Step Down Units on a rotating basis.
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will provide pharmaceutical services to patients in the Heart Center, collaborate with medical and nursing staff to provide timely drug information, and promote adherence to regulatory standards. They will individualize medication regimens using sound pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic principles, with responsibility for establishing and continually improving the delivery of pharmaceutical care within areas of direct responsibility and assisting others in the pharmacy department with the same.
The clinical pharmacy specialist will also participate in the training of pharmacy students, staff, and pharmacy residents.
- Assess the overall status of the patient’s health condition and evaluate medication profiles for optimal outcomes. Monitor therapy and goals of care. Document all activities and communications as appropriate.
- Participate in professional development and research activities.
- Contribute to performance improvement, clinical effectiveness, drug use evaluation, and committee activities.
- Participate in the education and training of pharmacy staff, residents and students, and serve as a role model and mentor.
- Identify and implement targeted drug cost reduction programs.
- Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy
- Licensed pharmacist in the state of Missouri
- Board certification within 2 years of starting position
- PGY1 Residency
- PGY2 Pediatric Residency
- Board certification
- Education:
Doctorate in Pharmacy - Experience:
2 years preferred
