Overview
This position is in a curiosity-driven cancer biology lab focused on uncovering novel cancer targets to improve patient outcomes. The research centers on dissecting molecular mechanisms governing genome stability in cancer initiation, progression, and treatment response. The work involves studying two multi-functional proteins, Profilin-1 and p97/VCP, their nuclear roles, and connections to transcription, DNA replication, and DNA damage repair. The lab emphasizes subcellular localization and post-translational modification and aims to identify cancer-specific moonlighting functions to guide new treatments.
Standard and specialized molecular, cellular, and animal procedures are performed in the lab, including cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, PCR, cloning, genetic mouse models, mouse xenografts, DNA fiber assays, and proximity ligation assays.

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Salary RangeBase pay is commensurate with experience.
