Completion of a Sonography program and 2 or more ARDMS or CCI registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Echo, or Vascular.

Job Summary

Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies in the vascular lab.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines. (60–75%)
  • Perform imaging and non‑imaging arterial studies of the upper and lower extremities and digits, transcranial Doppler studies, venous imaging studies of the neck, upper and lower extremities, carotid imaging studies, and arterial bypass/pseudoaneurysm studies per vascular lab policy and standards set by the Society of Vascular Ultrasound, ARDMS, and Intersocietal Commission for the Voluntary Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories.
  • Communicate and explain the exam procedure to the patient and family members to ensure understanding and consent.
  • Assess patient’s medical, cardiac or vascular status by taking a history before the exam.
  • Assemble a chart with the patient’s information and enter data into the PACS System or Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Record all imaging studies (digital archive) for review by the Medical Director or designee.
  • Complete patient billing to ensure accurate and timely billing procedures. 5%
  • Enter charges daily for procedures with no more than 1 error per week. Print reports from PAC, Epic, and On Demand.
  • Enter charges with correct account numbers and procedures.
  • Support all functions, goals, and objectives of the department and assist in developing any new programs. 5%
  • Participate in the development of new diagnostic testing procedures and evaluation of new equipment for potential purchase.
  • Educate residents and other medical or technical staff in technical aspects, indications, and limitations.
  • Enhance professional growth through educational programs, in‑services, workshops, reading current publications, online CME, and required CEUs.
  • Participate in research studies requiring departmental services.
  • Practice safety and infection control policies: universal precautions, hazardous waste disposal, equipment cleaning, high‑level disinfection (HLD), and maintenance of a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Maintain dress code, , equipment cleanliness, troubleshoot technical problems, involve Clinical Engineering or manufacturer’s service department as needed, and report risk management concerns.
  • Complete all assigned annual hospital and department‐specific mandatory requirements, including safety, fire, blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous communication, TB, department specific, and age‑appropriate care.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by demonstrating care, courtesy, and professionalism to patients, families, staff, and colleagues, while ensuring confidentiality and competence.
  • Provide cost‑effective services by minimizing overtime, using equipment efficiently, and ordering supplies appropriately.
  • Attend regular hospital and department meetings, support the hospital mission, and incorporate quality assessment into daily work.
  • Assist in performance improvement program data collection, resource utilization, equipment maintenance, and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Provide specialized care: restraint review and application, pain management plan of care, and abuse assessment with appropriate reporting.
  • Assist in day‑to‑day operations: work order entry, retrieval of archived studies, clerical duties, safety surveys, and reporting non‑compliance.
Minimum Education

Graduate of an approved vascular ultrasound program.

Minimum Experience

One year of ultrasound imaging experience preferred.…
