Overview
Mercy seeks a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician under general supervision to follow robust processes in Decontamination, Processing and Sterilization. Responsibilities include cleaning instruments and equipment, ensuring items are free of bioburden, inspecting, function testing and assembling instruments and equipment for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization. The technician follows Manufacturer's Instructions for Use in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection & Sterilization, as well as Department and Hospital Processes and Policies.
They must accurately maintain required documentation on written logs and/or computer systems, including processes in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection or Sterilization and Sterile Processing Department Equipment. The technician prioritizes instrumentation for processing, answers telephones and dispatches instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Duties align with Mercy Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards and may include other duties as assigned.
- Perform Decontamination, Processing, and Sterilization following established procedures.
- Clean instruments and equipment and ensure items are free of bioburden.
- Inspect, function test, and assemble instruments and equipment for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization.
- Follow Manufacturer's Instructions for Use and department/hospital processes and policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation in written logs or computer systems.
- Prioritize instrumentation for processing, answer telephones, and dispatch instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s Mission, Values, and Service Standards.
