Overview
Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) welcomes youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness with unconditional love, absolute respect and a place to call home. Beyond shelter and basic needs, we deliver transformative solutions to help young people ages 16 to 24 build productive, independent and sustainable lives.
Therapist is responsible for providing support and individualized therapeutic services to youth, groups and families in a manner which reflects the mission, philosophy and policies of Covenant House Missouri.
Responsibilities- Complete various assessments for youth, including bio-psycho-socials and quality of life.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
- Assist youth and families with identifying, maintaining, and developing natural supports in the community.
- Establish and maintain appropriate boundaries and good relationships with youth.
- Plan, schedule, and implement on- and off-site therapeutic activities.
- Model positive behaviors and coping skills for youth, demonstrate strength-based approaches, and utilize Trauma-Informed Care and Positive Youth Development.
- Provide crisis intervention counseling to youth and families as needed.
- Record and maintain records, required paperwork, and documentation according to agency policy and procedures.
- Attend and actively participate in team and individual meetings to share information regarding youth.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to identify client needs, assess relevant services, and determine the best approach to providing services.
- Utilize Trauma-Informed practices and support a Trauma-Informed culture among individuals according to their needs and wishes.
- Provide information or refer individuals to established and preferred public or private agencies or community services for assistance.
- Assist with nurse and psychiatrist schedule rotation.
- Provide in-house professional development opportunities related to mental health.
- Provide case management services as appropriate and coordinate additional services for youth as needed.
- Collaborate with staff to supervise youth participating in agency-sponsored opportunities on and off site.
- Participate in required trainings and staff meetings, completing at least 40 hours of training annually.
- Act in accordance with all organizational and legal protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Practicum students
Working RelationshipsRegular internal contact with all CHMO staff, outside contact with vendors and suppliers, and regular contact with outside agencies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education & Experience- Master's degree in Social Work or Professional Counseling required, LCSW or LPC license required.
- Experience with substance abuse preferred.
- 2 years working with adolescents preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience providing therapy in a therapeutic setting.
- Experience in a residential setting preferred.
- Case management experience helpful.
- The ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve shared goals, showing diplomacy and flexibility when opinions differ.
- The ability to lead by empowering others into an effective team and inspire results with a clear sense of direction and values.
- The ability to relate to people at all levels and maintain good working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and external partners.

- The ability to write concisely and present information persuasively.
- The ability to respond to and manage change as it relates to youth.
- The ability to handle numbers, analyze data, and present findings clearly.
- Flexible team player who can prioritize and juggle multiple tasks.
- The ability to motivate and engage coworkers and mitigate conflicts.
- The ability to design, plan, organize, and implement projects within deadlines.
- Results-driven with strong planning and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and make informed decisions.
- Ability to follow policies, regulations, and laws pertaining to the delivery of human services.
- KNowledge in mental health, trauma, substance abuse, homelessness, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, assessment tools, database systems, and Windows environment.
- Moderate concentration

Salary: $52,160 - $63,200 per year
