Medical Assistant – Radiation Oncology – Barnes West County
Pay range: $18.00/hr – $25.00/hr.
Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500.00 – Eligible.
Work schedule:
40 hours per week, Day Shift. No calls, no weekends, no holidays.
The Role
Full‑time Medical Assistant with Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital in Radiation Oncology located in Creve Coeur. This is a rare opportunity to join a great team.
OverviewBarnes‑Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment. The facility features 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms, and four intensive care unit rooms, with a park‑like setting that includes landscaping and a walking path to Millennium Park. The Department of Radiation Oncology treats 25–40 patients daily and utilizes an IX Varian linear accelerator and a Philips Brilliance large‑bore CT scanner with physician coverage from Washington University.

Purpose:
Provide support to the clinical care team under the direction of nursing staff. Duties include support of the outpatient visit through selected tasks according to practice protocols and procedures.
- Cleans, prepares, and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
- Performs clinical skills such as point‑of‑care testing and EKGs. Maintains accurate and prompt documentation in the medical record.
- Supports the outpatient encounter with knowledge of patient flow—including scheduling appointments, tests, and lab work, insurance processes, and coordination of resources such as durable medical equipment.
- Assists, as trained, in outpatient procedural visits such as setup of instruments, labeling of specimens, and general chaperoning of patient exams.
- Obtains patient information, including vital signs, patient histories, and other health information via the medical record and patient screening. Relays important information to the health‑care team in a timely manner.
- Recognizes this is a safety‑sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum: 2 years.
Licenses & Certifications- Cert/Reg in Area of Expertise.
2–5 years experience.
Supervisor ExperienceNo Experience required.
